Buried in a Book (Novel Idea Mystery, #1)

by Lucy Arlington

After losing her job as a journalist at the age of forty-five, Lila Wilkins accepts an internship at A Novel Idea, a thriving literary agency in North Carolina. Being paid to read seems perfect to Lila, although it's difficult with the cast of quirky co-workers and piles of query letters. But when a penniless aspiring author drops dead in the agency's waiting room-and Lila discovers a series of threatening letters-she's determined to find out who wrote him off.

I really enjoyed this book, the first in a new series. I wouldn't say it's destined to be a new favourite and I'm going to pine until the next one is released, but the story held my attention, the characters show development and promise and the plot was satisfying, with enough red herrings and a twist or two to make it interesting. I enjoyed the literary agency backdrop as well. I look forward to reading the second book when it's published.
