What a great book!!
Stormy Glenn has written another winner. It's no secret that I'm a screaming fangirl for her. She writes awesome stories with well thought out plots and details that make the reader feel like they're right in the middle of the action. "To Take a King" is no different. It's chock full of action, intrigue, romance, and VERY hot sex. It grabbed me from the first paragraph and didn't let me go until it was finished.
Nicky has been in love with Cooper all their lives. They've been best friends since they were five years old, and Nicky wants him with his whole heart and soul. Problem is, Cooper is straight. Or is he? On his 25th birthday, Nicky gets what he's always wanted, and life is on the upswing. Then, in an instant, it's all ripped away. Nicky is forced to watch as his brother and his friends are knocked out, and his beloved Cooper is shot. What follows is a wild ride. Nicky is told that he's the King of the solar system. Yes...the whole solar system. Even though he is trying to process this information, all he can think about is Cooper, and Cooper, who was, miraculously, not killed is obsessed with finding Nicky so they can start their life together.
I think that the best part of the whole thing was the powerful connection that Nicky and Cooper share. Their feelings run so deep, and there is so much passion between them. Along with the passion, there is a tenderness that took my breath away. They way they look at each other, touch each other, and melt together is amazing. I know I'm gushing, but I swear that this is one of the most romantic love stories I've read in a long time. It transcends time and space. Here is where I should also say that the sex is beyond steamy. You'll find yourself wishing you were there with them if only to feel the electricity in the air.
This was a relatively quick read. It was the perfect way to relax and spend the evening. It left me feeling happy and satisfied. I highly recommend this book. It's so unique and original. Something new and refreshing. I think you'll really enjoy it.This book was reviewed by a member of the review staff at Cocktails and Books.
