From the moment I began reading I knew this would be a difficult book to put down. I was pulled in and totally taken in by the characters that I felt compelled to follow them on their journey. The story was told from the POV of the main characters. I enjoy reading stories like this as it gives me insight into the character’s feelings, thoughts, fears and doubts.
Loving Josie is the story of Josie Decker and Kyle Martin. These two were opposites when it came to the way their lives evolved from childhood to adulthood and in the tragedies they both experienced. Nevertheless, they were similar in that the tragedies they experienced were life altering. It was these tragedies that brought them together.
Josie’s life was a lot left to be desired. With parents like hers, it’s a wonder she was not more messed up than she was. She has no idea what it means to be loved as she never had the privilege of experiencing it. She is strong and I love that she was able to rise above her circumstances and finally take control of her life. Kyle was always surrounded by love as such when he experienced a devastating loss he was plunged into a world of darkness. This loss left him just a mere shadow of his former self.
These two were drawn to each other, however, they were not looking for love only friendship. However, love has a funny way of creeping up on you when you least expect it. Will they be able to let go of their past and give love a chance?
Loving Josie is a well written story of hope and rebirth. It portrays that it’s never late to start over and that it’s possible to have a second chance at love. It shows that if we allow it past tragedies can cripple us emotionally and prevent us from grasping what the future holds for us.
If you have never read A.D. Ellis work before then Loving Josie would be a good place to start.
