Fifteen-year-old necromancer Chloe, having escaped from Lyle House with Derek, Simon, and Rae, finds herself imprisoned in a laboratory run by a sinister organization determined to control her and her supernatural friends.
Liked this second book even more than The Summoning. Where The Summoning took time to build to the action, The Awakening jumped right back into the story. Though it's been a few months since I read The Summoning, it was easy to get back into the world and what was going on. This was a relatively quick read that was engaging and entertaining. We were able to get more information about the Edison Group, though this seemed to deepen the mystery even as it answered questions.
Chloe goes through quite a bit of turmoil as she comes to terms with her ability and how that affects the rest of her life. She tries to be strong and tough, though, of course, half the time it leads her down the wrong path. But she is changing and growing as a character, and I'm curious to see how it all ends up.
