The Viscount Risks It All by Erin Knightley

The Viscount Risks It All (Prelude to a Kiss, #7)

by Erin Knightley

From the bestselling author of The Duke Can Go to the Devil, comes a new novel about destiny, and taking a risk on a second chance at love…

Gavin Stark, Viscount Derington, learned his lesson when his childhood love was swept off her feet by another man before Dering could declare himself. Ever since, he has lived a life of no regrets—reaching for what he wants while never again allowing himself to lose his heart. If the experience taught him anything, it was never to risk what he wasn’t willing to lose.

Lady Felicity Danby had everything she ever wanted in life until the moment her husband died, turning her world upside down. A year and a half later, she is finally ready to return to Bath to spend the summer visiting family. She finds comfort in her old childhood friend, but is taken off guard when passion begins to simmer between them. She’s already lost everything once—can she possibly risk her heart a second time?

I just loved this story for so many reasons, from the cover to "The end".
I was immediately drawn by the beautiful cover and was delighted when I spotted the exact scene in the story. One of my favorites, so romantic! ❤️
The Hero, Viscount Dering, is the kind of man loved by all, charming, gentlemanly, selfless, and ruggedly handsome, too!
This is a story about unrequited love. While Dering carried a broken heart for so long, he didn't sulk in pity all those years, which I liked.
Let's say it just dimmed his soul a bit.
The heroine, Felicity, has been Dering's childhood friend. Now a widow and with a very young daughter, she decides to spend some time back where she grew up after mourning for almost two years. Felicity is delighted to see old friends again, including her best friend Gavin, aka Viscount Dering.
I enjoyed reading this story, never wanting to skip passages, and found myself bookmarking so many favorite scenes. There was great anticipation, many swoon-worthy moments, butterflies and giddy feelings as fun events took place. Also, critical and dramatic scenes, too.
This book is definitely a reread for me. I find it to be very well written. While I thought every latest I've read of Erin Knightley's was the best, now I think this one is, too.
This author's writing is sweet, breathtakingly swoony and closed doors (Rated PG). I find it perfect for the true romantics.
5 hearts ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I received an ARC for my honest opinion and highly recommend this book to anyone who agrees with my review.
