I think I’ve said this every issue, but man was this an intense read! At this point I’ve come to expect that from Magic Order, but that’s a good thing. It’s really great to have a heavy hitting and dark series about mages. It’s not something you see every day, after all.
This issue in particular felt rougher than normal though. There’s a major twist in it, so I’m going to be as vague as possible - you seriously do not want me spoiling this one. While I didn’t even remotely see it coming, I did get the sense that something was off. So in a way it’s nice to know that my gut was sort of right? It also means they did a fantastic job of throwing out some subtle hints, without giving anything away. That’s a really tough balance.
I’m mostly looking forward to the next issue, though I’ll admit I’m also a bit worried about it. There have been a lot of heavy hits in this series – though admittedly I haven’t had a chance to get attached to most of the characters that have been horribly affected so far. But now? Now I’m starting to get to know the surviving family members, and that scares me.
