This part reads more like a crime drama than a dark erotica like the first part. There's still plenty of sex scenes, some more disturbing than others, but the focus seems to be on the crime. There's even the added POV of Agent Reed who is working with Livvie to try to solve this case. I didn't particularly care for his chapters at first, but once the pieces of evidence started coming together, woah!
I enjoyed this part much more than the first. It was super intense, and I found myself actually holding my breath near the end. I just could not figure out how it was going to end, or if it was going to be a happy ending. I honestly wasn't even expecting one, but a girl can hope! Although it's probably sick of me to wish for happy ending for a girl and her kidnapper. But that's the thing about these kind of books, they mess with your head, and cause you feel things you never thought you would.
