***IT'S ALIVE!!***
Ladies and gentlemen…we have a WINNER!!
How to Tame a Beast in Seven Days was bloody awesome. I was picked up from my world and dragged into another, where good fights evil, love conquers all and what you see isn’t what you get. We are treated to a paranormal fantasy romance that captures your attention from the first page. The settings, dress and hierarchy made it feel like a historical romance which was something that I loved. The characters are made up of ordinary people mixed in with the extraordinary. I loved stepping into this world and I honestly didn’t want to leave. Lucky for me…this is just the start.
I have attempted to write this review for more than an hour. It’s just not working how I want it to. I want you to nod your head and say - ooh, I love that too (in my favourite reads). I want you to think - I love historical romance, maybe a paranormal fantasy wouldn't be so bad after all. I want you to read my mind and see what I saw, felt what I felt and lived what I lived...from the very first page.
Let’s just say I was BUZZING!!
I loved meeting the characters in the story. The strength and courage they showed living with abilities they were born with but punished for having. Seeing their vulnerability when they are ostracised and shunned because they are different. Amazed at their ability to forgive the uninformed and ignorant. Frustrated when one too many turned their back on the characters and made them feel hated, unlovable and disgusting.
The storyline was exciting and full of action and adventure. There was never a time that it dragged or felt unnecessary. I was dying to get back to it every time life got in the way and I had to shut down my kindle. As the pages turned I wanted and needed to know more.
The love story and intimacy is slow burning but completely understandable. When that first connection comes it is pure magic. I needed it as much as the characters did. My heart settled and my smile grew. Even Beasts deserve happiness. Even the unwanted can feel needed.
How to Tame a Beast in Seven Days was fantastastic and I can’t wait for more in the series. I know this review is a bit of a bloody mess, but I’m sure you’ve worked out that I really, really loved it.
