It’s unusual of me to like the sequel of a book more than I liked the first one, The Goddess Test. However, this one was so much more awesome than the first one.
The cover is the only thing I had problems with, really. I liked how they kept the same girl on the cover for the two first books, it looks like but I don’t like the model’s stance. It looks awkward how she is looking behind her shoulder. And it makes me laugh every time I think that the model is saying something like What are you doing? How dare you interrupt me, a goddess?
Everything else was pure fantastic-ness. I loved all the characters. There weren’t much new characters this time around but you did get to meet Persephone. In The Goddess Test, Henry still is attached to his ex-wife and it is clear that he has feelings for her. After meeting her, I first wondered why Henry feels this way (but it is later explained in the book). Persephone was comic relief at its best and even a bit of added drama. I loved Carter’s characters and easily fell in love with them once more.
Carter goes, without a doubt, on my favorite authors’ list. She just made this story come to life and I loved every minute I got to spend in this world.
The plot never let me take a breath or slow down at all. It was a fast-paced, wild ride through the Underworld. I loved all the journeys in the book and would quickly re-experience them any day. The ending just left me hanging. I hate cliff-hangers, but when they are good ones, just like this one, I know I can imagine a million different ways how the next book is going to go. It gives me time to love these books even more.
Goddess Interrupted is an action-packed, fast-paced piece of work that won’t let you breathe until you have the third in the series in your hands.
