Cover is kind of a story within a story, at least at times. It’s all about a comic book artist named Max Field. He has an obsessive fan, who may or may not be what she appears to be. She’s rather blunt in what she claims to be, but she hasn’t exactly given Max any reason to believe her (even if she has spent a fortune on buying his artwork). Seeing the situation from the outside, I have a few theories on what is actually happening here, and the biggest one correlates with the title, so I think that’s likely the case.
The artwork took a few panels to get used to, but once I did I absolutely fell in love with it. You don’t normally see muted colors in comics, and these ones almost felt like water colors. But it really works, and to be honest, it really brought the artwork to a whole new level. Multiple art styles are shown in this issue, due to Max having his own series and styles within them. It’s all very impressive.
