Escape to Little Bridge Island in the first full-length novel in a brand new series from Meg Cabot... _____________________
The storm of the century is about to hit Little Bridge Island, Florida - and it's sending waves crashing through Sabrina 'Bree' Beckham's love life...
When a massive hurricane severs all power and cell service to Little Bridge Island - as well as its connection to the mainland - twenty-five-year-old Bree Beckham isn't worried . . . at first. She's already escaped one storm - her emotionally abusive ex - so a hurricane seems like it will be a piece of cake.
But animal-loving Bree does become alarmed when she realises how many islanders have been cut off from their beloved pets. Now it's up to her to save as many of Little Bridge's cats and dogs as she can . . . but to do so, she's going to need help - help she has no choice but to accept from her boss's sexy nephew, Drew Hartwell, the Mermaid Cafe's most notorious heartbreaker.
But when Bree starts falling for Drew, she has to ask herself if her island fling was only a result of the stormy weather, or if it could last during clear skies too? _____________________

”This was the kookiest town I’d ever lived in in my life, and that was saying a lot, considering I’d lived in New York.” (Sabrina Beckham)
Meg Cabot is my go-to author for a light-hearted and fun read. However, I’ve either outgrown Meg Cabot's books or her recent books just aren’t as iconic as her older ones.
WHAT I LIKED ☂️ The small-town island setting and vibe. ☂️ That an impending natural disaster is used as a backdrop. It adds a bit of tension to the plot, but the lack of concern about the hurricane is concerning. ☂️ All the animals and their personalities. The pet rescuing adds heart and cuteness. ☂️ The complicated relationship that Bree and her mother have. ☂️ That No Judgments is a fast-paced and easy read
WHAT I DISLIKED ☂️ Bree, is a decent character, but she can be wishy-washy at times. ☂️ The love interest, Drew, got on my nerves. ☂️ The romance felt too fast-paced and the main couple lacks chemistry. ☂️ I couldn’t connect with or relate to the characters and their situations. ☂️ The way the sexual assault plotline is handled. There are some things that made me mad for the right reasons- for example, the fact that Bree’s mother and ex-boyfriend don’t take Bree’s sexual assault seriously just because Kyle has some issues - but the way Bree deals with it in the end by threatening Kyle with a gun, didn’t sit well with me. That scene didn't fit with the tone of No Judgments.
No Judgments is an engrossing and fast-paced read, but there’s very little that I liked while reading it.
”Find what it is you love to do,”she (Dr Svenson) advised, ”and then do that thing as much as you can…. That really is the meaning of life.”
