What could be better than baking for royalty in France? Oh yeah, having to be in a competition for the spot as royal baker.
Seashells, Spells, & Caramels by Erin Johnson is such a great and fantastical read. Everything about it was wonderful from the characters, to the setting, to the species that Ms. Johnson had in the book, to the competition, and lastly the murder that happened in the book.

The Point of View and the Main Character
I definitely did enjoy the point of view since it works really well for this book. This whole book is in first person point of view. Who happens to be Imogen Banks, the main character, telling the story. This story being told in Imogen’s point of view is great because we are seeing things through her eyes, discovering magic, and trying to solve the murder of one of the competitors with her. I really enjoyed the main character because she is an awesome person and she has just been thrust into a new world that she just discovered along with learning that she is also a part of this new world in some form. I just think that she is taking that new knowledge along with staying a part of the competition really brave of her.

The Secondary Characters
The secondary characters were all amazing and I do mean all of them. From her boss, to the guests, to the competitors of the baking competition, and just all of them were all great. In my mind they are all three-dimensional, which makes an awesome story, but what other people think who have read this book might have a different opinion on them. I have three favorites of the secondary characters, and at least two least favorite of the secondary characters. My three favorites are Maple, Iggy, and Hank. My two least favorites are Pritney, and Glenn.

Seashells, Spells, & Caramels by Erin Johnson it is a wonderful magical book. I am giving this book five stars and I am definitely recommending this book to any of followers that like this type of book.
