A very good start to what appears to be an exciting series. I am not a fan of gay relationships, but I was intrigued by the blurb so decided to give this story a try. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The sex scenes were a bit graphic and may not be suited for readers who are not fans of lesbian relationships. It started out a bit slowly, however it picked up the pace by the third chapter. Love Bite is a mixture of paranormal romance, action and suspense.

Love Bite is not your typical vampire story. There is no drinking of blood from veins and no love scenes between vampires. This story depicts how a single bite from a vampire can bring about major changes in the victim’s life.

The main character, Diandra was not your typical female heroine. She struggled with weight issues all her life; however she was not insecure about it. Her husband, Jonah, loved her very much and he accepted her the way she was and did not try to change her. They had been trying to have a child for the nine years they have been married so it’s quite understandable how devastated she must have been that just as she was preparing to tell her husband the good news he was murdered. During this time she became friends with Lisbeth who was homeless and was the one who was credited for discovering her husband’s body. Lisbeth’s dramatic entrance in Diandra’s life brought about changes she never saw coming. Diandra helped Lisbeth to get back on her feet and Lisbeth in return helped Diandra during her grieving process. During this time a romantic bond developed between the two.
I loved how the author portrayed Lisbeth. She was a fighter and not afraid to back down from danger. Diandra on the other hand was a bit naïve and gullible. I found it hard to believe that she actually thought her husband was able to maintain their lavish lifestyle on a cop’s salary.

The storyline was very interesting. I like the way how the friendship between the two female characters was developed however I felt that the romance between them was a bit contrived.

Overall this was a good read and I look forward to reading the second installment.
