I was so looking forward to reading this book that was a sci-fi version of Beauty and the Beast. It didn't quite live up to my expectations. The technology of the future aspect was well written. In fact, the portrayal of the life-like AI Robots humans and animals( The Monkey Blue was my favorite!) were some of the best-written characters. I just wish the main male character had been written just as good because there was so much potential there. His personality and story weren't very well developed. I did really like the main female character Alainn. I also felt like the romance was just starting to develop when Wham Bam the explicit sex started happening.That was kind of unexpected in the story and I'm not sure it was really needed. I would have liked the emotional connection being developed more than just showing them having sex.
Overall this wasn't a bad story to read, it had many suspenseful moments that kept you on the edge and I really liked the ending. More world-building and explanation of why things happened the way they did would make this story even better. I really like the new cover on the book different from the one when the book was up for publication on the Kindlescout program. I'm up for reading the next book written by this author.
