First let me say that this book is well-written but at the beginning I had real problem with the 3rd person/present. I did finally get used to it but it's not my favourite.

There were moments in this book that were perfect, mainly (for me) in Part 1. Dan and his relationship to Justin were the most fleshed-out aspects of the book and yet there was little detail as to their daily life. Jeff had the potential at the beginning to become a more real character but he and Evan ultimately remained flat for me. Once Dan gets to California things just got confusing...for him and for me. Jeff and Evan's problems and plans are intimated but are never dealt with on-page or with Dan until the very end, leaving us wondering what the hell is going on. Communication, people! Communication! It just got a little tedious after awhile.
