I didn't really enjoy the first book in this new series. I wasn't sure what to expect from Knight's story. I didn't really care who ended up with Luna...no team Knight or Vaughn for me.... when it seemed like L.J. was going to pair one of these guys with Luna. I was just hoping to be more invested in the story and hoped that I would actually like the characters more than I liked Daria and Penn from Pretty Reckless. Boy was I invested and I loved Knight and Luna.
I was not expecting to be wrecked by this book. I was not expecting this Knight to be so different then the Knight that was shown as a man-whore, happy go lucky...Knight. The true Knight was so much more. I didn't realize how much I would love all the f-up facet of him and how deep and I mean deeply he cares.
Don't get me started on Luna. Wow that girl. It was so nice to finally be in her head and know what the heck she was thinking and where her head was. I loved, loved, loved Luna and how she broke out and found her voice.
Luna and Knight and their journey to each other is one bumpy ride. Baggage galore they had to wade through. This author really puts them through the ringer. No matter how much they both said and did some pretty messed up things to one another, one thing that was abundantly clear, is that these two were soul mates and really loved each other. I felt that emotion from page one.
This book really got to me emotionally. I cried so hard and stayed up all night to finish it. There was so much happening. Not just the crazy love story of Knight and Luna but the love story of this tight knit group of friends and their parents. This book was an emotional roller coaster. I was laughing one minute, cringing the next, cheering, frustrated, bawling, falling in love, rooting and then bawling again.
This book surpassed my expectations. I am still emotional and can't stop getting teary eyed about one of the story-lines in this book. I just can't even. Anyway, this is one you can read by itself well, but I highly recommend reading the Sinners of Saint series first (the parent's stories) and then jumping into the All Saints High series (the stories of the Sinners of Saints kids) to really get the full enjoyment and emotions that this book invokes.
