It's two years since the ketamine case brought Gunner back into Laney's life and things are going as well as can be expected for our kick-ass heroine and her sexy ranger. Meaning, they are still bickering and Laney has trust issues with the evasive Gunner. Laney still manages to hack Gunner off because of her continued friendship with Luke Wagner. Can our protagonists work through their issues and build a new life together?
All of the relationship “troubles” are entwined in new case. Wayward cousin Wyatt has gotten himself in trouble and Laney has to find him. Wyatt jumped bail and Ruth, Laney's mom is furious as she bailed her “two cans short of a six-pack” nephew out of jail. Of course, Gunner is somehow involved in investigating Wyatt too and is doing his damnedest to steer Laney away from this case. Only he didn't expect her old friend Luke to be the one she'd turn to!
As usual, this is well written and at times laugh out loud funny. The easy banter between all the characters makes them all fun and likable – even the villains! The ending is totally unexpected and I certainly wasn't expecting a cliffhanger. So, bring it on Jodi Linton! I can't wait to find out what happens next in Pistol Rock!
