The Starring Barbie series follows Barbie as she takes on different film roles. To begin with - I hate the format - at the start of each book, Barbie addresses the audience and it irritated me. But it's not just that - this whole series is too simplistic even for a picture book. It's all tell with little show and it makes for a very stilted read. A Dream Come True is probably the worst of the series. Super Spy is probably the best - I enjoyed the drawings of Barbie in her hover boots. Picture books are hard to rate when you're not the target audience and I can be forgiving with the rating, but frankly there's better Barbie series out there. I would give it 1 star, but I can't even see kids giving it more than 2.
