Red & Wolfe is the first part of a serial with a really interesting concept for a retelling. Sarah is completely down on her luck. She lost her job, her boyfriend left her, and now she's going to lose her apartment. While downing her last bottle of wine, Sarah drunkenly e-mails her long lost grandmother. Eventually she gets a reply along with $30,000, but it's not from her grandmother. Instead, it's James Wolfe: the man who claims to live on her grandmother's island and is in charge of her trust.

I did like Red & Wolfe at first. I really liked Sarah, but as soon as she meets James, it all goes downhill. I immediately disliked him greatly. He's just too overbearing, but not in the typical alpha male way. He's just irritating. And their first meeting really makes no sense. He manipulated Sarah into coming to the island, when he could have easily just told her the truth. He jumps to some pretty stupid conclusions about her, but based on all of this digging he supposedly did, he would have known she'd just hit a rough patch. I just couldn't buy into this story at all, and have no interest in continuing.
