I won an ARC in a giveaway over at On Starships And Dragonwings. Some things may have changed in the final version.
This book read like something my niece would have made up when she was five. It was adorable and silly, a little crazy, and the most unlikely things happened in it! And the illustrations were perfectly in keeping with that theme.
It's supposed to be a middle grade book, but adults will find it just as fun to read as kids. I loved reading about Eliza and Lavender, and Gertrude the goat. There were dragons and wizards, an old wise woman, an evil villain and a giant who wasn't.
The footnotes were funny, and the only thing I can think of that might be somewhat objectionable is that there was a severed leg in one of the illustrations. But it was all in black and white and no blood was shown.
I can't wait to see what happens next in book 2! If you like middle grade books with lots of humor and quirky fun, you need to try this book.
