I received an ARC through NetGalley.

I've really been enjoying this series, but I have to say The Principle of Desire is my favorite so far! It's not as geeky as the previous book, but it is definitely sexier! Even though I've read quite a bit of BDSM fiction, this one introduced me to a few new topics: Dommes, switches, and pegging. I had heard of things before, but just never read about them. Beth has just gotten out of an eight year relationship with her boyfriend and Dom, Aaron. He didn't accept the fact that she wanted to explore her own dominant side, so she left. Ed is friends with Ivan and Cami, and accidentally stumbles upon their alternative lifestyle while trying to get his phone back from Ivan. Beth comes to his rescue, but then Aaron shows up, so Ed offers to pretend to be her sub in exchange for a date. Little does he know, that he may actually like being submissive.

I loved how The Principle of Desire flipped the roles from other BDSM books I've read. It was interesting to me to see the woman being the one in charge and administering pain. Beth wasn't quite as confident as I would have liked, but she hadn't had much practice switching thanks to her jerk ex-boyfriend. Ed was super adorable! He came into the submissive role with such an open mind, and wasn't even ashamed to admit his interest in some other activities. It's not all kinky sex though. Beth and Ed share some adorable scenes together as well, including one where he helps her create a character for an upcoming Dungeons & Dragons game. I just love the mix of sexy and funny geekdom that this series delivers!
