A Complete Game by Aven Ellis

A Complete Game (Washington DC Soaring Eagles, #3)

by Aven Ellis

A professional baseball player who needs to find himself—on and off the mound.

A heroine passionate about animals—but not the life she’s living.

And two ferrets who spark a romance that will change everything for Brady and Addison …

Addison Blakely should be happy. After all, so many items on her life list had checkmarks by them: self-sufficient and living on her own, enjoying life in DC with fantastic friends, happily single, and working at a professional job.

So why isn’t she?

Addison knew life wasn’t going to be like the Regency romances she devours. The pages of her own book weren’t going to be filled with a dashing hero and a gorgeous romance. Nor would she be living the life she wanted by the last page. That wasn’t reality.

Or so she thought.

Addison’s life changes when a celebrity photoshoot with the Washington Soaring Eagles baseball team brings Brady Jensen into her life. Addison is drawn to the gorgeous pitcher with a crooked smile and a soft spot for the underdog. The more Addison learns about Brady, the more she begins to believe she can rewrite her own story.

When Brady and Addison are both faced by the challenges of living an authentic life and accepting their own truths, will this relationship end without a happily ever after? Or will Brady and Addison’s love make it all nine innings?

If you like emotionally intelligent heroes, animal shenanigans, and romantic gestures worthy of a swoony Regency novel, you’ll want to escape into A Complete Game. Can be read as a standalone.

This review was originally posted on Star Crossed Reviews I received this book for free from the Author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. If you have been following my reviews for a while you will know that I am a big big fan of Aven Ellis. This is the third book in the Washington DC Soaring Eagles series but all three can be read as standalones.

Addison has featured in the previous books in this series but this book is her story. Addison is passionate about animals, not just cats and dogs, Addison is a fan of all animals. I love Addison's passion for her ferrets and for working with animals. Addison is also a lover of regency romances and while I, personally am not, I love that she is. The way this is intertwined within the book is fun and allows her relationship with Brady to become so much more than the physical.

Brady Jensen was traded to the Soaring Eagles at the end of the previous season. I fell in love with Brady the minute he appears. The way he wants to do his photoshoot with something other than a cat or a dog. Something he can connect with due to his background and his own personal issues. From that moment I knew Brady was someone special.

As always I loved catching up with the other couples from this series and I really loved the introduction of Meghan. I cannot wait to explore her story more!

These two go on quite a journey and the 'black moment' was one that really got to me. When these two make up I found it very emotional. Aven really captured my heart with Addison and Brady. Their issues, Addison with her family and Brady with being an individual as well as a twin, are concepts that people can relate to even when your situation may not be exactly the same. The way that these characters are so honest with each other even if it is not what the other wants to hear is what really had me rooting for them to overcome the problems they faced.

The world is a scary place right now and Aven has created a world that was a pleasure to escape to and I hope it will give you all that same feeling when you curl up on your sofa's with it.
