Fighting Fate is the first book of Diana Munoz Stewart I have the pleasure of reading. It will definitely not be my last. It is the prequel to the Spy Makers Guild series.

Fighting Fate introduces Dada, whose current undercover assignment requires her to pretend to be a nun. A tricky cover as she unwittingly turns heads wherever she goes. Her mission, take down human traffickers. To accomplish her mission, she enlists the help of former footballer Sean Bradford. Sean too had a vested interest in taking down these traffickers, making him the perfect partner. However, while searching for clues regarding the traffickers, they came upon the trail of a serial killer.

The story delivered everything I expect from a romantic suspense. An engaging plot, likeable characters, edge of your seat suspense, gritty action and a sizzling romance served on the side. Despite the brevity of the story, it packed a punch.

Sean and Dada made a great team. Sean’s reaction when he first met Dada while in her nun attire was priceless. I enjoyed seeing them working together. Although Dada made some questionable moves which brought danger in their midst, she proved to be a competent operative.

Now, while we get to see the case with the serial killer wrapped up, we don’t get to see how the reason for Dada’s uncover assignment played out. The information is there to say it happened, but readers do not get to experience the actual event. This, for me, was a letdown. Fortunately it did not dampen my enjoyment of the story.

I enjoyed this brief introduction into the Spy Makers Guild world and look forward to more in the series. Fans of romantic suspense featuring kick ass heroines would enjoy this introduction to the Spy Makers Guild series.This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading
