While the main books in this series are from Calla's point of view, this novella is from Shay's. He plays such a major part, that it's nice to be able to see about him before he falls into this new life.

Shay's parents died when he was young and he is under the care of his uncle. He is constantly moving around for his uncles job living in boarding schools. Finally his uncle moves him to an old family mansion where a lot of weird things start happening.

His friends wanted him to keep them updated so he got a Facebook and decided to start a blog. Once he noticed all this weird stuff, he began reaching out to all these people to help him figure out what is going on.

It completely sucks you in because you feel like you're actually reading his blog along with all these people as he uncovers the mysteries. He still can't figure it out by the end and sets off to look for some answers which is where the story ends.

If you aren't sure whether to start this series, READ THIS because you can't help but to want to read Nightshade after this.
