As funny as the last issue was, I’m glad we’re getting back to the plot with this one. Admittedly it took me a moment to get into the swing of things here. They’re bouncing back and forth between the past and the present. Once I figured that bit out, things went a lot more smoothly.
Basically, there were two parts of the same story being told here. About how the girls have been rebelling and not drinking the water, and how it connects to the present epidemic. I feel like we can assume that the main character is not the only one that has continued her resistance.
I’m constantly impressed by how well thought out this series is. For something that looks like it’d be a silly sort of joking comic, it actually has some really heavy undertones to it. Granted, it certainly isn’t taking itself too seriously. The end result is something surprisingly well balanced.
