I really wanted to love "What Lies Beneath". I'm always on the lookout for books with new and interesting concepts, and this one really seemed to fill that description. I don't really want to give it all away but think...um...comic books.

Dylan and Jarrett meet under unique circumstances, and there seems to be an instant connection/chemistry between the two of them. It was actually a very SEXY unique circumstance. YUM! After that scene, though, the story got a little angsty for my taste. That in itself isn't a problem. It's a personal issue of mine. There's quite a bit of action and a pretty good underlying mystery that is presented to us in flashbacks. The relationiship between D and J is kind of what I had a issue with, and it's why I didn't actually love the book. Along with the angst that I mentioned, thanks to Jarrett's job, there is a lot of jealousy on Dylan's part. It seems to border on obsession, and it made me a little uncomfortable. Perhaps that was what Ms. Jenna was aiming for. She could have been trying for a sort of dark, moody atmosphere. Instead, and this is just my personal opinion, it felt a little forced.

So...I LIKED "What Lies Beneath". As I said, the concept is interesting, and I've never read another book like it. I'd love to hear about a situation like this happening in "real life". It would be effing awesome, actually. That, right there, makes it worth a shot. If you like a short read with an original idea behind it (oh and pretty hot manlove sex scenes), you may really enjoy this story. I'll definitely try checking out another book or two by Iyana Jenna.
