If you love the danger and sword-fighting of MERLIN, you'll like this! In a discontent kingdom, civil war is brewing. To unify the divided people, Conner, a nobleman of the court, devises a cunning plan to find an impersonator of the king's long-lost son and install him as a puppet prince. Four orphans are recruited to compete for the role, including a defiant boy named Sage. Sage knows that Conner's motives are more than questionable, yet his life balances on a sword's point - he must be chosen to play the prince or he will certainly be killed. As Sage's journey continues, layer upon layer of treachery and deceit unfold, until finally a truth is revealed that proves more dangerous than all of the lies put together.
I normally write full reviews for audiobooks, but guys, it took me seven months to get through this. Not because the book's bad (it's not) and not because the narrator is terrible (he's quite good) but because I'm lazy and the only time I listen is when out walking.
Ahem.
So a list review will have to suffice. And a quick note: I have a feeling this is the kind of book that holds my attention in audiobook, but I have doubts about how much I would enjoy it in print form. Sometimes books are just better when they're read to you.
The False Prince is for people who...
...enjoy plotting and political intrigue ...have ever wanted to go from rags to riches ...don't mind that this is just the beginning of Sage's journey (I'm pretending everything's okay as the book ended) ...love characters with secrets ...like wondering how everything is going to work out *flails*
