Here's the thing: The parts of this book I did like? Most of it is in His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu's conversations in The Book of Joy, delivered in a much humbler, clearer way. (That book is amazing, by the way.) Most of the time, I felt like Tolle came across like a cross between Joel Osteen and Job's friends. The entire "Enlightened Relationships" chapter was super cishet-normative and at one point, misogynistic (in a complimentary veil). Overall, he does give some interesting insight and perspective, but there wasn't enough for me to say I "liked" this book.
