When Lincoln and Whitney’s paths first crossed ten years ago, they were not aware of each other’s identity, but this did not prevent them from experiencing a night of intense passion. However, the revelation of their identities added to the complexity of their subsequent encounters. A lot has happened since then, but the one thing that has not changed is how they felt about each other.
I will not go into much detail about this book, as this is a story you need to experience for yourself. It is spellbinding, gritty, sexy, suspenseful and all around entertaining. It never gave me a moment to breathe, as I had to know what would happen next. This is one of those stories that would lead to loss of sleep and if you are not careful absenteeism from work. Drama, secrets and shocking moments had me on edge until the end.
The story, which is told in alternate POVs, and moves between the past and the present, depicts the class prejudices prevalent in small towns, especially those owned by an affluent family. The fact that Whitney and Lincoln were from different classes and their families were locked into a feud, their relationship was considered taboo. Love, however sees beyond class and feuds and you cannot help whom you fall in love with as Whitney and Lincoln will discover. In addition to the romance, jealousy within the family and battle over whom should inherit the family fortune were the mainstay of the story.
The characters helped to make this an engaging read. There were characters you could not help but love, and then there were those you wish would disappear.
Conclusion/Recommendation
Richer than Sin is a great start to the Sin series. If you familiar with the author’s work then you know, you need to read this book. If this is your first time, then you will be in for a treat. A note of warning, this installment ends in the most dramatic fashion leaving me with a lot more questions than I expected. Therefore, if you are not a fan of cliffhanger endings wait for all the remaining two books to be released, which will be on September 18 and October 23, 2018. However, if you do not mind this type of ending, then I highly recommend you get a copy of Richer than Sin, you will not regret it.
