Giulia is quickly becoming my favorite cozy mystery character. This is the fifth book in the series. While you definitely can read this as a standalone if you want the interesting and sometimes zany backstory then start with book one.
I quickly became immersed in this book , Frank and Guilia are out for the night when a Chihuahua leads them to the dead body of a Nun. Of course Giulia , who runs a detective agency quickly becomes involved and follows the Chihuahua to the convent where Giulia meets quite the ensemble of nuns who want to hire her to investigate. Things quickly go from hectic to chaotic for this ex-nun who also happens to be pregnant! Giulia's horrible brother has an accident and lands in a coma, his three children who do not seem to be upset in the least, come to stay with Giulia and I think their reaction to their fathers accident was one of my favorite parts of this story! Throw in a smarmy developer that wants the nuns convent for part of a neighborhood rehab, another murder plus a wise cracking, chain smoking ghost, I could not have been happier with this installment of the series. The book was well written and fast paced and I laughed out loud at the antics of the quirky characters in this book. I think the name that Giulia calls her unborn baby is hysterical, Zlatan, are they really going to name this baby that?
All of the pieces to this complicated puzzle of a murder came together very nicely in the end. This book did not disappoint with its cast of smart mouthed, quirky but lovable characters and the plot was a win for me.This review was originally posted on My Fiction Obsession
