Scales deals with some deep issues. This is not a light, fluffy read for sure! Paris and Weaver are both very unique characters. You learn early on that Paris killed her father and her guilt over the situation is destroying her life. I found the beginning of the book a little confusing. Who is this Jenna girl and why is everyone going to this 'class'? Maybe because I didn't read books 1 and 2? Either way, it took me some time to understand what the point of this 'class' and project was for Paris and Weaver. The writing is wonderful and the book is thought provoking. You really can't read Scales if you are looking for a lighthearted romance. If you are looking for a book that will really make you think, push yourself to understand character motivations, and more, Scales is a great book!
