I received an ARC through NetGalley.

Nothing says love like disposing of a body together after a night of demon hunting! Beg Me to Slay was quite fun! Tegan (that's Megan with a T) was bitten by a demon four years ago, but survived. No one believes this story of course, and thinks she was stabbed with an acidic blade. During her late night relaxation ritual, she sees a man burying a body on the beach. When he turns around, it's the demon who bit her! Tegan goes to the police, but they saw nothing on the beach, so she hires a PI. Gabe is a demon slayer, so he recognizes the scar from the bite on Tegan's shoulder, and immediately puts her under his protection. But Tegan is no wilting flower, and joins the action right there with him!

I liked Beg Me to Slay a lot. Tegan may be scared to live her life to the fullest after her attack, but she's also not content to just sit back and let Gabe do all the dirty work. She does have a black belt, and teaches self defenses classes, so she can certainly hold her own. It's just a matter of learning what it takes to kill the various demons who are after her. In addition to her almost-killer being on the loose, there's also the matter of some prophecy that Tegan's family is linked to. I really liked this, since it accounts for the existence of dragons. Not actual dragons, but something similar. It's just interesting.

Of course, there's also a romance happening in Beg Me to Slay which was pretty good too. But I much more enjoyed the demon hunting plot. It was fast paced and full of action. I was never bored with the plot, but I could have done with more development in the romance. It's very insta-lovey, which is okay, but it did feel forced. The "I love you" scene would have been stronger if it had just been them promising to make it through the battle so they could give their relationship a real try, and then exchange vows of every lasting love once everyone is confirmed alive. Oh well. I still liked it overall.
