The Little Mermaid by Metaphrog

The Little Mermaid

by Metaphrog

A haunting adaptation of the beloved children's tale from the creators of THE RED SHOES AND OTHER TALES. Far out under the ocean, the Little Mermaid dreams of exploring the world above. When she finally turns sixteen, she is allowed to rise to the surface where she falls in love with a young prince. In order to be with him she must become a human, and so makes the most dangerous pact with the Sea Witch. The Little Mermaid is Hans Christian Andersen's most celebrated tale, and is adapted here as a graphic novel with beautiful artwork by Eisner award nominated duo Metaphrog, creators of the acclaimed Hans Christian Andersen's The Red Shoes and Other Tales. A faithful adaptation of the original tale- find out what really happened to the Little Mermaid!

I pretty much knew the story already, both the Disney version and the actual Hans Christian Andersen version as well, but I mainly wanted to read this because of the artwork. I loved the art, though the faces sometimes looked a bit odd in my opinion, but damn it was such a pretty book. I loved the use of blue and the subtle differences between each sister. I think I may try out some more books by this duo, if they have anything I'm interested in, of course!
