I am at a loss - do I rate this book or not?

Truth be told, it was the cover that compelled me to buy this book. Absolutely gorgeous! But...

See, I don't really "get" BDSM. I have read some stories that have worked for me, more so because of the relationships depicted than the lifestyle aspects. I've loved the intimacy within those relationships; not necessarily the sexual aspects but more the emotional intimacy. And therein lies my dilemma. This book was well written and, from reading friends' reviews, hot and sexy in the Dom/sub interaction. But I didn't feel any real, emotional connection between the MCs.
