Those Magical Manatees by Jan Lee Wicker

Those Magical Manatees (Those Amazing Animals)

by Jan Lee Wicker

Learn all about this marine mammal and learn why sailors (who had been out to sea way too long!) used to think they were magical. You will learn what they eat, where they live, why they swim upside down, how many babies they have, how they sleep, and even what that green stuff is that grows on their backs. Most importantly, you will find out what you can do to protect them.

Activities include making a manatee sponge print, a psychedelic manatee, a splatter paint manatee, and a veggi-tee that you can eat!

[note to self: update description]

While the cover and title made me wonder what I was getting into, this is a FABULOUS treasure for our purposes. Week 1 of Memoria Press Kindergarten and with the letter Mm our theme is manatees. Fun illustrations paired with enchanting clear photography goes along with tons of details and facts to answer all sorts of questions for my K4 daughter. Then at the end there are crafts!

I'm not familiar with Pineapple Press or Jan Lee Wicker, but now I'm a fan!
