Hourglass is an interesting read and possibly the most rounded book that I've read in this series.
Bianca and Lucas join Black Cross after the events in Stargazer and Bianca and Lucas have to deal with people, vampires, wraiths, enemies and hiding that Bianca is half vampire from the Black Cross.
WHAT I LIKED...
◤◥ The lore surrounding vampires and wraiths. There wasn't much of it in this book, but I enjoyed what was there.
◤◥ The setting. I was worried that I wouldn't like this book as much because of a lack of Evernight and a boarding school environment, but I was so wrong.
◤◥ Learning more about Black Cross as an organisation and the people who are a part of it.
◤◥ Dana! I love her!
◤◥ Balthazar. One word: gentleman.
◤◥ Vic and Ranulf. The best of friends, the best type of friends and the best team in the world!
◤◥ The ending of this book, although it's a minor cliffhanger. Lucas is going to be a vampire in the next book and the way he copes with something that he absolutely abhors will be interesting
WHAT I LOATHED...
◤◥ Bianca and Lucas. Their relationship is made to seem like an epic, soulmate type of relationship. Bianca and Lucas will do anything for each other and give up everything for each other, but I didn't feel that their romance went beyond "young love" and they didn't reach soulmate status.
◤◥ The predictability and cliche' tropes and plot, but this is a guilty pleasure, fast-paced read so I wasn't so bothered by this.
◤◥ Raquel. Enough said.
WHAT I'M ON THE FENCE ABOUT
◤◥ Lucas? He's starting to rub off on me a little...
◤◥ Bianca. I went from liking her in Evernight and Stargazer to not knowing how I feel about her. This has to do with her romantic feelings for Lucas and I wasn't invested in it.. Bianca becomes someone whose life revolves around her relationship.
WHAT I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO IN AFTERLIFE...
◤◥ Dana, Vic, Ranulf and Balthazar!
◤◥ An epic battle.
◤◥ Something that is bloodsucking explosive.
◤◥ A happy ending!
