"If ever you are lucky enough to visit the beautiful land of Greece you will find a country haunted by more than three thousand years of history and legend."
When I purchased Tales of the Greek Heroes 7 years ago, I thought it was part of the Percy Jackson series and I was surprised to find that Tales of the Greek Heroes actually deals with the original Greek myths.
The Tales of the Greek Heroes sets the scene of an ancient and magical Greece really well. It's intended for a younger audience and the violence, gore, murder, sex, rape and incest that is associated with Greek Mythology is glossed over. The Tales of the Greek Heroes takes separate tales and aspects of Greek Mythology and turns them into a cohesive story that's easy to read and understand.
I've been a fan of Greek Mythology for as long as I can remember and when I read The Tales of Greek Heroes 7 years ago, I didn't learn anything new, but I did enjoy reading it. 7 years later, I still enjoyed reading The Tales of the Greek Heroes, but I'm looking for something more nuanced and filled with new information.
