Darkness never dies…but same goes for light. You can not have one without the other. I think that’s what I love about these books. Besides my obsession with the Russian similarities.

I found myself not being Team anyone. It’s the first book that I almost felt it didn’t matter to me who she ends up with. There is romance yes, but it doesn’t steer the plot. The life of the story doesn’t hang in the balance of who loves Alina and who doesn’t. Leigh’s characters are so well written and well rounded that I can’t help loving all of them. Even the flawed and the evil.

The plot is fanamonial. The books have such strong writing that they absorb you right in and you wish, desperately wish you could read the trilogy in one swoop. I love the world building that goes on in this series, I loved the epicness of this book. I could gush and gush like gushing is my job.

I kept seeing people write how shocking the ending of the book was. So I expected more then what happened. It didn’t change my opinion of it but I thought it was pretty good. I actually had a moment when I agreed with what Alina was doing. What! I felt insane for thinking it myself. I thought the ending was perfect for the book and well executed. I can’t wait to read the third installment. It feels like anything can happen and I love that.
