Good story, but the romance felt somehow off to me. Maybe it was Rex's weird throwdown that he wouldn't kiss her again unless she was "all in". Maybe it was the intense focus on Avery's recovery struggles that made the romance feel like an after thought. I don't know for sure, but I didn't love these two as a couple.
