When sixteen-year-old orphan Tessa Fell's older brother suddenly vanishes, her search for him leads her into Victorian-era London's dangerous supernatural underworld, and when she discovers that she herself is a Downworlder, she must learn to trust the demon-killing Shadowhunters if she ever wants to learn to control her powers and find her brother.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It was a bit weird with the clockwork steam-punk twist that was thrown into the story, but it starts to feel in some of the characters from the Mortal Instruments series, which I read before I knew about this series. The story gives you a look at the world we fell in love with in the Mortal Instruments series, but throws a much darker feel over it. This is a great start to a series that will keep me enthralled until the end I am sure.
