Jim Butcher's The Dresden Files saga continues in this original andin-continuity graphic novel, featuring a never-before-told story set after thebestselling novel White Night and graphic novel Down Town! A bizarre doublemurder draws the interest of Chicago's only wizard-for-hire. But as HarryDresden begins his investigation, the clues lead to troubling conclusions aboutthe possible perpetrator, and set him on a path that will place him in themiddle of a conflict between the city's three most powerful factions -- aconflict that could engulf all of Chicago!
Annoyingly every short volume collected in this large on recapped the story over again, which was spectacularly irritating and really broke flow. The collection already relies on a pretty decent knowledge of the Dresden universe, so having that recap was completely redundant. Also, problematically this graphic novel goes back to the things that most readers didn't like about the original few books, before the series really hit its stride. All the women are sexy and alluring, and all the men are hunky and strong. I thought we'd got past that with the third novel when finally the characters started to develop depth rather than just being a series of tits and pectoral muscles. The art style was great, and I liked getting to know Murphy's character a little more, but overall, given the strength of the Dresden Files as a series, I didn't feel like this graphic novel was a particularly strong addition to it.
