Written into the Grave (A Country Gift Shop Cozy Mystery, #3)

by Vivian Conroy

‘The best book in the series to date’ – Rachel Gilbey

Can fiction kill?

Vicky Simmons’s life was supposed to be relaxing after she moved back home to the coast of Maine, but instead of baking bread and gardening she’s been chasing down killers and it’s time to stop. Vicky is ready to slow down again and vows to start focusing more on her roses than solving crime.

That is until she reads the new serial in the paper over breakfast, describing a brutal murder that takes place on a cliff top road just above a beach. Only to find herself moments later, walking Coco and Mr. Pug, face to face with a dead body on the sand. The murder victim described exactly as he was in the story…

Once again death has come to Glen Cove and this time Vicky and her friends won’t stop until they find the killer before they get away with murder.

This is the second book that I have read in this series. While it most definitely may be read as a standalone, if you want to get into the dynamics of the characters and their relationships I would read it as a series.

This book starts out running and does not slow down the pace. Vicky immediately gets involved in the murder investigation. Cash the local police chief seems to rely on Vicky quite a bit and I cannot decide if I want him or Michael, the reporter for Vicky's love interest. I think Cash may be the one for Vicky. The author put quite a few red herrings in this book and I found myself falling for a few of them.

I love the setting of Glen Cove. The premise of this book was very clever and the murder itself very difficult for me to solve. This review was originally posted on Cindy's Book Binge
