Let's start with a quick list of things I enjoyed:
• Fierce and fabulous heroine
• Sweet and swoony hero
• Fantastic family times
• Lots of rom-com moments
• A Vegas wedding
• Fake dating/marriage
• The search for the perfect term of endearmentI
I loved Bridget in the previous book, Not the Girl You Marry, and was excited that she would be the star of this one. I wanted to know more about this down-with-love, hard-nosed lawyer, and why her longtime relationship imploded. As details were revealed, I found my heart breaking for Bridget. All the years she wasted, and opportunities she was willing to pass on, because of these fears she harbored. It made seeing herself open up to possibilities so much more satisfying for me, and I was beyond happy, that someone like Matt was chosen as her partner in this relationship.
Matt initially was sold to me as a privileged rich boy, and I could not have imagined anyone less suited for Bridget. However, there was a lot going on below the surface, and my love for Matt grew and grew as I learned more about him. Though he was younger, still in school, and in a totally different socio-economic situation from Bridget, I still loved him for her, because he was sweet and attentive, and everything her ex wasn't. He admired her drive, ambition, and intelligence, and gosh darn it, that's sexy.
Once again, the family interactions stood out for me. The Nolans are quite a colorful family, and I love how real they are. Since this book features Jack and Hannah's wedding, I had the pleasure of spending lots of time with the family, and they delighted me to no end. The fact that papa Nolan is a sap, and that he's dating his ex-wife never fails to make me smile. And, now it was Bridget's turn to make peace with her mother, which seems to be very important for all the Nolan children.
Overall: I was so happy to spend more time with the Nolan's, and to see Bridget get her HEA. I am not sure what couple Christopher has in mind for us next, but I know I will want to read their story.
