This was a decent book. The language was a bit ornate and over-embellished, but it mostly suited the book and the fantasy setting. The number of characters was quite large, and although it got mildly complicated at times, the conflict and tension between them all balanced out and was able to keep the plot supported. The main character was impulsive and rash, but she's a teenage girl, so it works out, although I can see how those who aren't used to or fond of teenagers would find her aggravating.
This book was a quick read, and I'll be reading the next, but the plot only picked up properly at the very end so I'm hoping it will run stronger in the second book.
