Killian is an ass, but he's an ass that is emotionally broken and has decided to give everyone the big FU to protect himself. He's a famous English footballer and he can do what he wants. That is, until American PR intern Leah shows up and turns his world upside down.
I loved Leah most of the book. Determined to turn her life around after being dumped by her longtime boyfriend, she stands up for herself and refuses to let Killian push her around. That is until she has sex with him and he believes what he reads in the tabloids about her. He says some pretty harsh things about her (which I expected) and she took it. The brave girl who stood up to him was gone and she let him say and do nasty, nasty things about her without once defending herself. After that, I wondered if she was going to be the old Leah again. Luckily, she turned things back around.
The road to HEA for these two isn't easy. Killian has to go a lot of groveling at various times, but I think that was exactly what Killian needed to realize his relationship with Leah was different than what he had before and prove to Leah that she is worth fighting for.
This is a TOP READ book for me. I highly recommend it to everyone (it's in KU and $2.99 for those that don't have it).
