Being Anti-Social

Mace is 38, single, and anti-social, with a slight fear of dogs. She has a tight-knit group of friends, and though at times it seems she isn't fond of a couple of them, they're still there for her in times of trouble. After having an affair with a co-worker, she was faced by the disapproval of her mother and older sister, and spent the entire novel trying to come to terms with the loss of her husband.

Judging by the cover, I thought this was going to be light-hearted chick-lit, but I would definitely not classify it as such. There were a few dark moments, and I shed a few tears, but there were also a couple of laugh-out-loud moments.

Though it had a slow beginning due to so many character introductions, and a few too many Oscar Wilde quotes sprinkled throughout, I still enjoyed reading about Mace's life, and how she dealt with being anti-social.
