Medieval Castle is a new book in the Inside Out series of cutaway books for kids. Due out 15th Sept from Quarto on their becker&mayer! kids imprint, it's 16 pages and will be available in hardcover/boardbook format.

This is an interesting fact-filled book about castles based on real historical examples from the middle ages. The cutaway pictures show features from the outside inward with each successive layer peeled away to show the interior features. The graphics are very well designed and detailed. The text, which is placed in highlighted sidebars on each page, is well written and understandable. The art is detailed and well rendered.

This would make a great gift for a young history fan, or library (school or public) use. I noticed new details each time I looked at the interior pages.

Four stars.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
