The Sea of Zemira by D L Blade

The Sea of Zemira (The Zemiran Chronicles, #1)

by D.L. Blade

A ruthless pirate. A deadly siren. And a love that was never meant to be.

For the past twenty years, Nola has watched King Matthias destroy her homeland, turning it into a barren wasteland. The only magic left in their kingdom is bound to the enchanted crystal of his crown. Though hope lies across the Portland Sea, in the heart of the Fae and Elven Kingdom, Nola has one minor problem: She’s a siren who has never used her tail. All she’s ever known is the land beneath her feet.

After stowing away on a pirate ship, Nola encounters Captain Lincoln, an arrogant yet handsome pirate who harbors a deep hatred of the siren folk. This hatred makes Nola fear she won’t make it to the Fae land alive.

However, the captain surprises her when he agrees to take her to the Queen of the Fae on the condition that she remain his prisoner within his quarters until they reach dry land.

Amidst massive waves, sea monsters, and dragons, arises a bond no one ever expected—the love between a deadly siren and a ruthless pirate.

The first book in the trilogy is perfect for readers who love a passionate romance. The main couple will have instant attraction but the feelings will steadily build with steamy scenes and a sea adventure that could rip them apart. Each book in the trilogy features a different love story, with completely different tropes and themes from an arrogant pirate captain, deadly sirens, magic, enemies to lovers, and touch her and die.

...They must be read in order.

I received an ARC of this book from Booksprout.

I have fallen in love with this series. This book has so many different themes that blend together seamlessly.
The story has a central theme of an anti-magic fueled war, which spans over 2 decades. We experience multiple glimpses of the war during this time, filling in some very important details for what is upcoming for us.
We have the evil villain, the antihero, the found/lost family theme playing a huge role here.
The majority of the tale is told over the course of a seabound journey where our FMC grows and develops into herself, her powers and becomes this badass lovable heroine who I would follow in a heartbeat.
The book is full of steamy romance and love, friendship and trust.
There are a lot of plot twists and I adored them all, they kept me almost jumping out of my skin with tension.
I can honestly say I haven't enjoyed a series this much in a while.
Even the bad guys, you respect their evilness and hate them at the same time.
The good guys, a ragtag bunch of pirates, are the most hilarious and delightful sidekicks I've experienced.
The MMC, our FMC love interest, is absolutely swoonworthy, a handsome pirate that I got captain hook vibes from (once upon a time TV show version) yum.

This book was off the charts spicy. So I thoroughly recommend to my fellow smut sisters.

A sizzling 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for this beautiful tale, of fighting the unjust and clawing the way back to the good life, the one they were rightfully meant to have.

A fantastic example of a swashbuckling adventure Romantasy.

My favourite quote this book:
"To sail wherever the sea of Zemira takes us."
I found it really encapsulated the true essence of the finished story, now they were out of troubled water, they were free to live their lives as they would choose too, without fear of consequence or fear from an unjust society.
-and now that sea is taking me directly to the next book; King Elijah.
