The reason I am giving this two starts (instead of the dreaded one) is because I think Roth had a really really good idea here, however execution of it was poor. The main character was rather blehhh. I wished that the fact that she was a Divergent wasn't just limited to three of the five factions. To have her be part of all five would have been much more of a believable reason to give all of those qualities for not being able to be controlled to a Divergent

I was personally much more interested in the world that Roth was creating rather than the character. I think both needed to be much more well developed. Instead it honestly lacked substance. It just felt like a hollow shell of a dystopian YA novel.

The writing as well was so-so.
