The King's Guard (Girl of Fire and Thorns Novella, #3)

I've only read the first two novellas; The Shadow Cats and The Shattered Mountain so I'm not entirely sure how Hector and these events fit into the rest of the series - but I also feel like I didn't need to know. The plot and the characters were sufficient to stand on their own - even if there may be more enjoyment from reading after the series.

I really enjoyed the plot and the pacing of this. It was a fun, fast and action packed novella with likeable characters. Hector was great and I liked the depth Lucio displayed - he's clearly smarter and more aware than he can seem. I had no idea where the plot was going so it was a bit of surprise where it lead. But overall I enjoyed this novella. It was slightly shorter than the other two but just as interesting. I can't wait to read more of the series.
